The RockTape Story

In the time that Rock Tape has been in business, it has already established itself as an industry leader in developing new and innovative uses for kinesiology tape outside of the established therapeutic applications. They recently sent the sporting world into a frenzy with the introduction of a completely new approach to kinesiology taping – taping for athletic performance enhancement. RockTape’s innovative PowerTaping™ techniques can delay the onset of fatigue, accelerate recovery processes and enhance muscle activation. This makes RockTape the most complete sports tape on the market – with therapeutic benefits plus performance enhancing features that no other tape can match. ROCK TAPE has already been worn in Ironman competitions, national cycling championships, and other extreme sporting events.

RockTape and Athletes – A Perfect Match

  • Delays onset of fatigue
  • Increases blood flow to working muscles
  • Improves neuromuscular efficiency
  • Enhances muscle activation
  • Reduces muscle vibration
  • Supports muscles and joints without restricting range of motion
  • Accelerates removal of lactic acid
  • Improves endurance, strength and power
  • Increases lymphatic drainage, reducing swelling and inflammation

It’s All About “Snap Back”

RockTape’s enhanced elasticity (180% vs 140%) contributes to superior snap back properties. Like a tightly coiled spring, it is able to return to a neutral position more quickly after being stretched. When applied to the body, this can help muscles contract and relax more quickly, making movements less fatiguing and more efficient. The layer of RockTape on the skin can be compared to an additional thin layer of muscle, contributing to enhanced athletic performance.

RockTape Fiber in Stretched Position

RockTape Fiber – Stretched

This enlarged photograph of a single fiber of RockTape in a stretched position looks almost exactly like the coils in a spring. Just as a spring on a door helps the door close quickly when released, this same principle helps muscle fibers recoil back to a neutral state after being stretched.

RockTape Fiber in Relaxed Position

RockTape Fiber – Relaxed
The elastic coils allow RockTape to “snap back” to its relaxed position quickly and efficiently. When stretched RockTape is applied to a muscle that is contracting and relaxing, this mechanism allows this process to occur with less effort. The result? More efficient movement, reduced muscle fatigue and enhancement of the activation/relaxation process during repetitive movements. This has led to RockTape being given the nickname, PowerTape.
